What is Zumis?

One free app for chat, calls, videos and community

Zumis is an African-first communication app. Message your people, call them in voice or video, share short videos, and join groups built around the place you actually live — all in one app that works on ordinary phones and ordinary networks.

Everything Zumis does

Private chat

One-to-one and group chats with replies, reactions, threads, link previews, and a 20-minute edit window on anything you send.

Clear voice calls

Call any Zumis user free over data. Calls reconnect on their own when your network dips and tell you when quality drops.

Video calls

Face-to-face calls one-to-one or in a group, with a low-data mode for when the network is slow.

Flicker short videos

Record and share up to 90 seconds, react with hearts, fire and applause, and follow the creators you enjoy.

Local communities

Groups built around real places — your estate, market, campus or neighbourhood — across cities all over Africa.

Creator tools

Channels, subscriptions and tipping so people who create for their community can earn from it.

Why people choose Zumis

Made for real networks

Small payloads, a data-saver mode, messages that queue when you drop offline and send themselves when you come back.

Private by design

Traffic is encrypted in transit, media is stored privately, and you decide who can see your profile, status and presence.

No app store needed

Zumis installs to your home screen straight from the browser, rings like a normal app and takes very little space.

Getting started takes two minutes

  1. 1

    Open zumis.life

Any browser on any phone or computer works.

  2. 2

    Create your Zumis

Sign up with email or Google — no phone number required.

  3. 3

Add it to your home screen

Install in two taps so calls and messages ring properly.

  4. 4

    Find your people

Search by username, import contacts or join a local group.

Is Zumis really free?

Yes. Messaging, calls between Zumis users, Flicker videos and community groups cost nothing — you only pay for your own mobile data. Calling ordinary phone numbers is still being tested and stays switched off until it is fully verified.
